GIVE! - Discussion #5
Read Anne's essay, "Give!". Discuss how the issues discussed in this essay still have application today - about seventy years after the essay was written.
It has the same applications today because we do that to certain people we do not like or something like that and we dont speak up and say sorry and stuff.
I agree with everyone, that it is still happening and no one dose anything. Everyone tells eachother, "We should be nice to her/him." But if they weren't pressured to do kind things, they wouldn't!
Anne hit this one right on the spot. This exact thing is still going on today. We don't realize that the poor and homeless are still human beings who need care and love. Even if you give a little, a hug, a prayer, some change, it can all make a difference.
These problems happen more than we'll ever know but, we can fix it even though it will take a alot of time. Its so easy for me to do it why not everyone else
What Anne said is true. WE still to this very day see people and think "eew. they have no home so we owe them no respect." We need to change this even if just a little bit. It will make the whole difference. it will put a :)(smile) on someones face.
Like I said before WISE! We have the same problems now; people being stingy and uncharitable, people thinking others inferior and disgraceful. Its sick but there are a golden few who are kind giving and charitable. In fact I heard a story about one such man today in church, you can ask me at school tommorow. Anyways Anne's wish hasnt come true yet, and it might never, such a thing is human nature.
That people have never been very kind to eachother and appreciate eachother. Am example, all the homeless people have never been given a chance to prove themself and i saw this movie about a custodian who was extremely smart, but he got a chance. Some people may not get a chance, so give them a chance.
The problems Anne discussed in her essay still go on today. The poor are looked down upon, the rich envied, and this hasn't and might not ever change. But we have to have hope. Most people wrote that everyone is selfish, and no one has even tried to do anything about this. I don't think this is true. Today, I was stopped at a stoplight when the man in the car next to us rolled down his window, and handed a few dollars to a homeless man on the side of the rode. It wasn't much, but I believe that there are more people out there who would do the same thing, given the chance. We may still not see much of a difference, but maybe, the world actually is gradually getting better.
Everyone has the right idea when it comes to their responses to this discussion question. Reid makes a very good point, so I'll just repeat his question: "Can anyone think of some ways to help solve this problem?"
What can you pledge to do to help people in our community, and in turn perhaps change the thought processes of people all over the state, nation, and world?
the essay tells you that you need to teach everyone fairly. The problems that were discusseed in the essay, we still have many of these problems going on today.
I beleive that in actuality humanity's form of how to treat a being when they are in a sorryer condition is rude, and that is expressed in Anne's essay. She distributes that the poor are mistreated and the rich, elated and I agree full handedly. I do in fact beleive that their are people who wil try and put in a step in fixing this matter. I also beleieve that all people can change, but that their only this way because the world has eligedly shaped to this form. However, if people understand that so little can do so much for people in a condition that might frighten you people could have a better chance of fixing this issue!!!
it applies on us today because of how many people are beggars because they do not have money. I agree with Anne GIVE AND YOU SHALL RECIVE! If you would do what Anne said to do their would be less fighting, less sorrow, and you could treat everyone equally.
The problems discussed in Anne's essay still go on today. The poor people are always looked down on and the rich people are very lucky and sometimes they don't even realize it. Life has always been like this in the past, present, and maybe even the future. I think that all people should be treated equally and that no one should be judged by the way they talk, dress, looks, or how much money they have. People usually just think that poor people are mean and ugly, but then they might think that about you. The least bit of support can help them. If just one person starts to give money to a man on the side of the road, people might just realize how much they have and the least bit will help tem in many ways. We all say that we need to do somthing about this problem, but still no one has done anything about it because we are scared that people will judge us if we do the right thing.
the same thing is still happening today. we should care and give more to the poor. they are just like us but a less fortunite.(i probably spelled that wrong.. but it takes to much energy to look it up.)
Yes, problems like this still occur now, and probably will continue to occur in the future. People always believe that the poor are ignorant and illiterate, when some of them are very literate and intelligent. And it's also assumed that richer people are smart.
I guess a way to help this situation is to not judge a book by its cover, just to really listen and get to know someone before you judge them on the way they look or where they live/come from.
The issues during the war such as poor people getting treated unfairly still exist today 70 years after the war. One way we can hope to solve this problem is to give a simple act of kindness.
I feel that I can make a positive dfference in the world by contirbuting to differnet organizations that figtht global hunger and ignorance, however I think it is more important to ge actively involoved, Marching for change, serving soup at a food shelter, and helping build affordable housing for poor families. But I can also help by trying to understand other countries and people and keeping a open mind.
I think Anne was exactly right, and the same issues are going on today. We must pay respects to eceryone on the Earth, even if they are poor. We are all human beings, and deserve to be treated equal.
I beleive that most people feel the way that she describes them as in the writing. Many people say it is wrong, but they just don't do anything about it.
It says alot about the kind of person Anne was and the person everyone should try to be. I agree with Nitali just follow the golden rule: treat others as you would have them treat you!
It holds so true- even today. I completely agree if no one ever behaved rudely there would never be any human rights situation. We are all the same being rich or poor doesn't matter!!
We still have the same problems.
ReplyDeleteThe same problem is still happening today and a lot of people do not notice it, and we can't fix it.
ReplyDeleteThese problems are still happening and no one even notices or pays attention to it. These problems can not be fixed.

ReplyDeleteMost of these issues have not been changed because people are too stuborn to think about others and change their ways.
ReplyDeleteThese problems happen more than we'll ever know but, we can fix it even though it will take a alot of time. Its so easy for me to do it why not everyone else

ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Anne. She would be a good president or something because we still have the same problems today!
ReplyDeleteThe same kind of things happens today, as it did 70 years ago.
ReplyDeleteWe have the same problems still today and no one can fix them.
ReplyDeleteAnne's idea is a universal one that everyone thinks about now and then, but no one can convince the world to do it. It is still a major problem today.
ReplyDeleteI believe that many of theses problem are still going on, and we could definitely fix these problems but nobody ever bother to try.

ReplyDeleteWe all think this problem is an issue. Right? So I have a question. can anyone think of some ways to help solve this problem?

ReplyDeleteI still think the same things are going on today. We can't fix these things by ourselves. It takes a big movement.
